The Auto Depot was founded by Jim and Jannie Ernst in 1997. As a child, Jim spent his days watching his good friend Harry Porter rebuild classic cars and repairing cars for neighbors and friends. It was during this time that he learned the value of every automobile, and learned how the right care and knowledge could extend the life and performance of any car or truck. Jim never forgot the gratitude of those, his neighbor and friend helped. He never forgot the warm feeling he experienced every time Harry would deliver a repaired vehicle to someone who couldn't afford a new one. Jim was determined to honor his friend by opening a business that would truly offer value to the community. He promised himself to always provide value and outstanding service, regardless of how large his business grew.
Since opening The Auto Depot some dozen years back, Jim has been providing excellent service and offering outstanding value to folks throughout Austin.

Auto Depot has been part of Austin since 1997. We do body work, mechanical repair, sell used cars, sell used parts and we do classic/antique car restorations. The entire staff will make themselves available to you by phone or email to help you find a solution to your problem.
After all, not having a reliable car or needing to buy one is a problem. And, here is where we are so different. We don’t ask customers to sign an “as is” form. We stand behind our product and will bend over backwards to get it right for you.
We offer a price guarantee. It’s simple: once you pay us, within 30 days if you find a shop that would have done it for less, we will refund the difference plus 10%. The only stipulations are these: the shop must be a member of The Better Business Bureau in good standing, the shop must be within twenty-five miles of our shop, and sorry, but we can't compete with a friend who would have done the repair for a case of beer on the weekend!
